KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Toyo Ink Group Bhd (7173.KU) is considering a rights issue to partially fund its proposed coal-fired 2,000 megawatt power plant in Vietnam that now awaits final approval from the Vietnamese Prime Minister's office, The Edge Financial Daily reported Wednesday.
The daily cited Toyo Ink Managing Director Steven Song as saying that the planned power plant is estimated to cost $2.5 billion and that the company may rope in some joint-venture partners for the project given the massive outlay involved.
Song also said the worst is over for the company and "there would be some gradual improvement" this year.
The company, which makes solvent and water-based ink as well as varnishes used in the packaging industry, has operations in Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
